Getchu 2013 bishoujo game awards – categories

Yep, it’s just as long as last year’s.

Scenario

1st Place: Otome Riron to Sono Shuuhen (Navel)

bga1s

Hello, this is Otome Riron to Sono Shuuhen’s main writer, Higashinosuke.
I was very happy to receive 2nd place in the scenario category last year, but at the same time, I felt very pressured when writing this sequel. Upon receiving this year’s prize, I felt like I had finally overcome the hurdle that had been set for me last year. Jackson-san, I did it!

Well, to be honest, I was saved by the BGM creators and the voice actors, and my writing ability isn’t really anything special. *takes a puff from a cigarette*

I’m currently planning my next project, so there is yet another hurdle to overcome. Thank you, everyone. Also, make sure to preorder Sorahana! (Soratobu Hitsuji to Manatsu no Hana)

2nd Place: ChuSingura46+1 (Inre)

bga2s

Inre’s writer, Hayama here.
I have the privilege of receiving 2nd place in the scenario category. Thank you so much to everyone who voted.
I truly believe that it’s all thanks to the magnificent stories of the Chusingura, the passionate performances by the voice actors, and the warm support from our fans.

We are currently working on a fandisc for ChuSingura46+1. Rather than being satisfied with these results, I aim to make our next work even better, so please stay with us.

System

1st Place: LOVELY×CATION2 (hibiki works)

2nd Place: Madou Koukaku ~Yami no Tsuki Megami wa Doukoku de Utau~ (Eushully)

bga2sy

Thank you to everyone who voted us to 2nd place.

Our goal was to create a strategy SLG about building a nation up through international conflict and developing towns and fortresses, but on the other hand, we were very worried that we’d crammed too much into the game design.
Anyway, it may be that developers in this industry are becoming less and less adventurous, but we will continue to produce fun games focusing on SLG and RPG elements.

– Boss Fujiwara

3rd Place: Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai (August)

Thanks to everyone that voted for us!

System isn’t a category that people really pay attention to in games like this, but we’re very happy to receive this award.
In this game, we aimed to create a system that would convey both serious and fluffy parts well. We will be touching up the system in our next game, so please look forward to it.

Character

1st Place: Sakurakouji Runa from Otome Riron to Sono Shuuhen

bga1c

Luna: “I’m pleased to have the privilege of speaking here again, just as I did last year. I’m a “sub-character” in “Otome Riron to Sono Shuuhen”. Being first again is such a pleasant feeling.”

“It is an honour to receive the prize for best character of 2013. It doesn’t seem like a character has ever won two years in a row before, so I’m proud to have set a new record in the history of the Bishoujo Game Awards.”

“Well, I think that’s enough as far as formalities go. I’m going to make some inside jokes now, so please pardon me. For those who don’t know the context, as I said before, I am a “sub-character” in “Otome Riron to Sono Shuuhen”. Anyway, I was an almighty main heroine in the first game, but people were happily pointing at me and calling me things like “a side character, no, not even that – a background character”; “the person in the corner of the ‘other’ category in the CG gallery”; “the nameless girl who gets assaulted at the beginning of a rape game”; “the fanservice character they added in just to make the numbers add up”… Hey, don’t you think this is weird? What happened to my almighty main heroine status? Well, my response is to look at the 3rd place winner and then look at the introduction to this game. Yep, it sure feels good to still be on top. Ahaha~!”

2nd Place: Suzuki Kana from Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai

bga2c

Kana: “Hello, I’m Suzuki. What did you call me here for?”

“Huh!? I’m the 2nd best character? N-N-No way, that’s so unbelievable that I don’t know what to say! I mean, my surname is boring and my chest is nothing special. But well, I’ll gratefully accept this. Thanks.”

“Now then, thank you very much to everyone who voted for me. Some of you might not be happy about this at all, but this is my Suzuki-style world legacy!”

3rd Place: Ookura Risona from Otome Riron to Sono Shuuhen

bga3c

Risona: “A defeated sister has no right to speak of warfare.”

“Hm, what’s that? You want to hear more?”

“No, I don’t really have anything to comment on. Ah, wait, I should express my gratitude to my voters, right? I’ve won 3rd place; in the ongoing Sochi Olympics, this would be equivalent to a bronze medal. Isn’t that amazing? I was touched when I saw that I’d placed 3rd in 2013’s best heroines. Well, the fact that someone weird took first place kind of bothers me, but putting that aside, I’m grateful for the emotions in each and every vote for me. Indeed, rather than just the total vote tally, I instead want to treasure the warmth that was born each time someone pressed the vote button. Once I realized that, I stopped caring about my rank. I don’t want to be a part of a society that gets hung up over ranks and grading. I want to be a person of sincerity.”

. . . . . . . . .

“Like I’d actually think such nice things. To all of the big brothers out there who voted for Luna-chomu: Line up in a row and sit down. The following is an inside joke, so for those who don’t know the context, please turn a blind eye.”

“Isn’t this wrong? No matter how I look at it, it’s just not right. The Navel game that was nominated this year was “Otome Riron to Sono Shuuhen”. The heroine of that game is me. Aside from me, there are two other heroines. Both of them are very cute.”

“As the representative from that game, I’m glad to have ranked in the year’s top 3 heroines. Yes, I’m very pleased. I was so happy that when I received the results email, the cola I was drinking left my mouth and splattered onto the screen. It would be embarrassing if someone had seen me jumping for joy.”

“But it was all ruined when I saw the first place winner. She was a sub-character this time, you know? She wasn’t on the box cover, so you wouldn’t even know if she was in the game or not. This is what we call a MINOR CHARACTER. It’s as if they’d accidentally elected a sumo wrestler to represent us at the Sochi Olympics. And then he gets first place. A sumo wrestler that’s putting on skis for the first time in his life wins a gold medal in mens’ moguls. Am I being mocked?”

“The email from the Getchu staff said “1st Place (The Beautiful Luna-sama) and 3rd Place (Little Sister Gununu (Risona))”. I didn’t change a single word; that is the exact original text. “Little Sister Gununu”. Uh huh. It really does make want to go “gununu.” It’s like my name is “Gununu” now. Like my real name “Risona” is just a pseudonym. Ookura Gununu. Who came up with this stupid thing? Also, Getchu’s staff even called her Luna-SAMA. Like she’s that amazing. What is the meaning of this? No, I’m not trying to oppose the store staff or anything. After all, they’re selling plenty of game copies with my picture on them. That’s a good thing. Even Ookura Gununu. I never asked for this. But call me whatever you want, be it Ookura Gununu or Pork Cutlet.”

“But don’t forget, those of you who voted for Luna-chomu. While she bathes in the spotlight, there’s a little sister main heroine who lost in popularity to a sub-character. Do you understand this frustration and sorrow; the same anguish of an unpopular game that ended up in a New Year’s grab bag!? The one in first place was the ONE person I didn’t want to lose to! Argh! Why!?”

“*deep breaths* Those of you who voted for Luna-chomu, after you come back to your senses, please purchase 7 copies each of Navel Honeybell’s debut game, “Sorahana”. This is an angry little sister’s sales promotion strategy.”

Ero

1st Place: Sei Shoujo ~Seido Ikusei Gakuen~ (Frill)

Screenshot (NSFW)

“This summer, the world will spill that white stuff like it never has before.”

That is the catchphrase that is proudly displayed on Sei Shoujo’s homepage. The idea was that making such a bold claim would draw users in, dishonest as it may be. However, after putting up that slogan, it really did feel like it would be unacceptable to not meet those claims, and it put an awful lot of pressure on us during development. *sweatdrop*

Perhaps it’s because of that that we were able to pour all of our experience and know-how into making this game. We didn’t have much to show for ourselves at first, but gradually people were spreading the word, and it felt good to see more and more people talking about us. They say the market’s been drying up lately, but eroge is being supported nonetheless!
Just knowing that is enough to be very pleased.

For us at Frill, we don’t have any better accomplishments than this. Thanks to your support, we were able to make our slogan come true!
Once more, thank you!
