Sporadic everything update

Now that I’m not following the seasonal format anymore, time to dump all those movies I watched in theatre but couldn’t write about because the posts hadn’t caught up v:

Anime

Ahiru no Sora – 7/10
Pretty typical sports anime with some unconventional character designs. I lucked out because even though Soma wasn’t on the central team, his character liked to randomly appear even outside of his school’s matches lol. Anyway the cast is awesome and Yuma’s song is awesome; Over will probably be my favourite Yuma song for quite a while.

APPARE-RANMAN! – 7/10
Ended up liking this more than expected, and Soma’s character ended up being pretty important too. Good stuff

Code Geass: Koudou/Handou/Oudou – 8/10
Ahhh the nostalgia… My tastes must not have changed much in the past decade+, because I still love Code Geass (and Lelouch).

Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch – 8/10
Back when R2 ended, I was in the “Lelouch is the cart driver” camp so I’d already assumed he was alive. But I guess they still wanted the original anime’s ending to be ambiguous, hence why they changed the cart scene at the end of the movie trilogy. Which is fine. I was just excited to see Lelouch and C.C. again haha… even if the first half was really not what I was expecting at all.

Danmachi Movie + S2 – 6/10
Danmachi plot and characters don’t really interest me much. It’s an ok show

Darwin’s Game – 7/10
I like OP protagonists so this was a pretty fun watch, although it had too many psychos for my taste. Rein > Shuka > Xuelan (maybe she would be higher after another season) > Sui

Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru? – 7/10
I think this is the perfect Kaito role www anyway this show was exactly what it should’ve been. None of the characters were my type but I actually thought Hibiki was animated really cutely. I really liked her twintails and fang w

Fate/stay night Heaven’s Feel 2 – 8/10
More ufotable Fate. Also, thanks to this we got great guests at IFFT <3

Gaikotsu Shotenin Honda-san – 8/10
Nice short educational/funny anime. You can tell Soma must’ve been overjoyed to get this role w. Also the Honda-san mangaka promoting Soma’s book collabs gives me life

Haikyuu!! Riku vs Kuu – 7/10
A stopgap between S3 and S4 I guess. It was good, but I mainly like Haikyuu for Karasuno so it felt kind of filler-y.

Haikyuu!! TO THE TOP – 8/10
I was a bit salty that they ended the first cour at an early part of a match but I’m definitely not going to complain about more Haikyuu w

Human Lost – 5/10
I watched this at the AX premiere because Mamo was there and uh… I don’t remember anything from this movie at all lol so I’ll just give it the benefit of the doubt.

IDOLiSH7 – 8/10
I was really impressed with how faithfully the anime adapted the game story, right down to the jokes. i7 is my favourite currently-active idol franchise even though I don’t care for most of the cast (TRIGGER is best), and it was exciting seeing how high quality the anime was.

IDOLiSH7 Vibrato – 7.5/10
I can’t give this a higher score because of the 2 episodes where literally nothing happened, but yay TRIGGER content! NATSU☆しようぜ!!!

Infinite Dendrogram – 5/10
This show started off reaaaaally weak but it did get better later on. And then worse again. Oh well, at least there was plenty of angry Soma.

Kabukichou Sherlock – 6.5/10
I was pretty uninterested in the rakugo and the gags but the actual plot was pretty good and I liked Moriarty.

Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai – 7/10
This was pretty good; felt like a SHAFT anime. The skits were sort of hit-or-miss for me… just like a SHAFT anime w. Hayasaka/Kei > Kaguya > Chika > Kashiwagi

Kimi dake ni Motetainda. – 5/10
I guess it was alright for a <1 hour movie but it’s certainly not something I’d recommend to anyone besides diehard fans of the seiyuu. The chara designs were nice but the animation was meh and there was a lot of obvious cost-cutting. The story did do a couple of things I didn’t expect (thanks Okada Mari) but it ultimately still wasn’t very good. The cast is A+… but it also only ended up that way because something clearly went wrong with the original casting plan (which is a lengthy story I’m not going to get into here).

Kitsutsuki Tantei Dokoro – 5/10
This show wasn’t really that interesting for the most part. It did do some weird stuff at the end, but, eh. None of the characters appealed to me. I will give it bonus points though for having full-length seiyuu video commentaries.

Kuutei Dragons – 7.5/10
I liked the setting and I enjoyed the individual character arcs a lot. The CGI felt natural too.

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha Detonation – 7/10
Nice conclusion to the previous movie. I love Fate

number24 – 3/10
I love sports anime but… this was not really a sports anime… They played like… two games maybe? I don’t care about the BL shipping so it was really boring for me lol. And I was disappointed because they shilled it a lot on Soma and Kaito’s radio but their characters barely had any screentime until ep11 when they suddenly stole the show (and then gave it back in ep12).

Oshi ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu – 7.5/10
I don’t really know what to say other than that this show was exactly what it was supposed to be. A lot of relatable moments, but there were also some things that annoyed me because they made no sense (like the staff never telling Maina about the lost gift).

Promare – 6/10
I already knew this wasn’t going to be my thing, so yeah lol… Lio was nice though. I like ginpatsu…

Qualidea Code – 6/10
This actually wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I didn’t care for any of the characters much, but it was nice that it was like 95% plot rather than gratuitous fanservice. And the music production value was good, even if the sakuga wasn’t. The last few episodes kind of felt like a drag though. Also it was kind of hilarious how Soma remained first in the credits roll despite barely having any lines in the middle episodes.

Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry – 4.5/10
I have no idea how this show was rated as highly as it was; the first half was completely insufferable. It did get better in the latter half, but still wasn’t really anything special. Best girl was Ayase.

Sangatsu no Lion S2 – 8.5/10
Ahhhhhhh Hina is such a good girl, and tfw you’ll never have a friend as good as Rei ;_;

Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hana wo Kazarou – 8.5/10
AKA Maquia. Great movie, lots of feels. Maquia is a very good girl

Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight – 7/10
I was expecting Love Live except with stage plays and instead I got supernatural/psychological/surreal plot with a talking giraffe voiced by Tsudaken. Anyway I can’t really say I’m fond of this kind of storytelling but I liked the direction of the stage battles and I really liked their outfits lol (the capes are so nice). Hikari > Banana > Maya > Junna > Karen > Claudine > Futaba > Kaoruko/Mahiru

Sora yori mo Tooi Basho – 7/10
Unique setting with some nice feels but I wasn’t super interested in any of the characters.

SSSS.GRIDMAN – 6/10
Watched because of Soma, as you’d expect… I’m not into tokusatsu stuff so it was pretty boring to me, but Rikka was good and the OP/ED were fantastic.

Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online – 7.5/10
This was fun! I liked it a lot more than the GGO arc of SAO. LLENN is good

Uchitama?! ~Uchi no Tama Shirimasenka?~ – 8/10
The adorable animal forms gave me life and the monthly seiyuu streams were hilarious. I love seiyuu shill… Nora > Momo > Tama > Koma > Pochi > Tora > Beh > Kuro > Gon > Bull

Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ Maji Love Kingdom – 6/10
Watched this at AX. It’s not really a movie or even a musical lol… it was just an animated concert. I don’t really have anything to say about the “movie” (especially since I’m not really into Utapri) so I’ll just gush about the AX panel instead. Mamo and Terashii were great!!! Their dynamic was really good and they’re great entertainers. I definitely became a bigger Terashii fan after that haha.

W’z – 3/10
So this is the sequel to Hand Shakers, and like… it manages to have the bad plot but not in a hilariously bad way, so it ended up being boring because all of the characters were too normal. Even the incest pair from Hand Shakers got normalized… Anyway, this basically got 1 point for the voice cast and 1 point for Soma singing tone deaf karaoke :v

Games

Amnesia Crowd – 5.5/10
Why do I keep playing FDs for games I didn’t like… I guess it’s because Later and Crowd were combined for the Vita release. Some of the thriller-esque suspense stories were good, but most of the game was pretty boring since I don’t like most of the characters. (Yes, I still platinumed it even though I literally only like Touma. Curse my trophy obsession.) Anyway I don’t think I’m going to play World lol. I am done with this franchise

Charade Maniacs – 6.5/10
I was pretty excited for this since Soma’s character was first in the list (and he’s the only one with a blank card in the game art). I don’t really know how to talk about my route impressions without spoilers, since the identities of the imposters are a mystery until their routes. So this is just gonna be a wall of spoiler tags.
I played in the “official” recommended order (I think it was from an artbook or something): Banjou → Akase → Iochi → Ebana → Chigasaki → Futami → Gyoubu → Dazai → Haiji
I thought I’d figured out the gimmick pretty early on in the common route (and thought it was disappointingly obvious, considering I’m not even the type to speculate much), but my theory got disproved during Chigasaki’s route. In the end the twists were alright but nothing mindblowing, and I’m salty that the hints towards Akase ended up not being anything lol. They also made it seem like it was going to be a death game, but then no one died so…

Banjou: It was an alright starter route. Had a lot of focus on the acting theme and a stereotypically positive ending. But god is he annoying lol. He’s probably one of the very few childhood friend types that I don’t like v:
Akase: I was a bit disappointed that I had to do Soma’s route so early (usually I want to save it for last). I’m not super fond of the voice he uses here (it’s a bit too rough at times), but I still enjoyed the route even though it was an early one without any shocking stuff. There was also an interesting coincidence where it was revealed that Akase had two younger sisters (Soma has two younger sisters too). Anyway I binged this route in one sitting thanks to Soma. I swear, he’s the only one who can make me like genki guys w
Iochi: I’m not a fan of Ogata Megumi’s voice so this was a bit painful to go through right after Soma lol… and one of their twists was similar to Akase’s, so it felt kind of boring.
Ebana: This guy pissed me off from the start and his backstory honestly wasn’t enough to make me forgive him lmao. Dude needs to chill.
Chigasaki: This was the first route where I actually felt pretty invested in the story. I’d originally assumed they were in some VR world teaching AIs emotions, but Chigasaki being half-isekaijin made me rethink the logistics. They really hammed up the angst but it definitely did get me more interested in the rest of the routes (my interest had been waning after Iochi and Ebana).
Futami: I guess he’s supposed to be the secretly crazy one but it ended up being milder than I expected. Wasn’t really a fan of the character in general.
Gyoubu: He didn’t tick me off as much as Ebana did, but man, was he supposed to be likeable by anyone? Lol
Dazai: Generally I actually like Otomate’s “true” heroes quite a bit, but Dazai was kind of boring, and 8 routes in I was impatient for the game to just be over lol…
Haiji: I thought he was annoying from the start, and the twist wasn’t enough to make me like him more. I thought it was really neat though that his “good” ending played the bad end credits.

Overall it was an alright game, but 9 routes was just too much. There weren’t enough plot points to justify that many. Akase > Chigasaki > Dazai > Iochi > Futami > Gyoubu > Haiji > Banjou > Ebana

Btw the OP/ED are great:
